Climate
The country, whose capital Caracas is apostrophized as the "City of Eternal Spring" has no seasonal  changes of temperatutre. Tradition makes a Spanish missionaries responsible for winter (invierno) and summer (verano) that were introduced like hell (Infierno). For the non Spanish speaking people there was no major difference between just learned invierno, and the new vocabulary Infierno, and since then the seasonless Venezuela has got a winter - hence, it must also have a summer. Who has experienced the rain storms and the flooded country in the winter, will find it easy to combine invierno and infierno. The Winter extends from April / May to November / December and is called the rainy season, the dry summer season is from December to April. In summer - a paradox for us - due to the rainfall, the temperatures are lower than the average temperatures of winter. But no explicit cuts are structuring the year of tropical Venezuela. In some areas, such as in the states of Falcon, Nueva Esparta and Sucre, it remains fairly dry, while humidity prevails in Estado Amazonian. The Lianos, however, have got the most impressive change: In winter, they are flooded and dryed out in summer, but hot it is for all twelve months. Temperatures vary according to region and season between 5-16 degrees. The average for the whole country and the whole year is 23 °C. In Caracas in December and January there is 12 °C by night and the daytime temperatures are around 25 °C, warmest months are April and May with nightly values near 20 °C and daytime temperatures around 30 °C. Maracaibo and Ciudad Bolivar present themselves on average daily temperatures over 30 °C for the entire year. In Merida they are a little lower than in Caracas.

Venezuela is the whole year to get the best travel opportunities obtain according to your travel intentions. Dry, very warm beach weather of midsummer is guaranteed from December to February, what is also perfect for visits of the Lianos and the Andean. Not only snow on the peaks, lush waterfalls and high water levels of rivers are to be found in the rainy season. For river expeditions this season is best suited. |
